Karen Bloom

Karen Bloom brings over 30 years of dance, dance performance, teaching, and musical theater experience to her endeavors. She is classically trained in ballet, jazz, tap, and pointe as well as a number of other formats including latin and hip hop. Karen has had the opportunity to work with renowned hip hop dance troupe Xtreme Dance Force (who competed in the second season of America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV). Karen received her classical training from Claire Bataille and has been privileged to work with various professional dance companies. Karen has dedicated her time to adapting dance for fitness with her WeDfye Dance Classes. During these classes, Karen focuses on hip hop and latin techniques….creating fun, calorie burning, full out dance routines. Karen is privileged to teach technical ballet classes, tap, and hip hop for the Summers Academy of Dance. As the Dance Coach and Choreographer for the Miss Illinois Organization, Karen recently trained and choreographed for Erin O’Connor (current Miss Illinois 2009) where she performed a hip hop routine en pointe on the Miss America stage. Karen enjoys modeling and has had the chance to work on a commercial photo shoot for Jimmy Choo Shoes. Karen has also worked as a Promotional Model for Creative Horizons, Miller Brewing Company, and Celsius. She has performed locally for various radio promotional events and has been proud to emcee the Little Miss and Little Mr. Algonquin Pageant. She is the former Mrs. Algonquin International 2008, placing in the final 5 in her first pageant and receiving the Best in Aerobic Wear Award. Her philosophy is to role model to others that truly anything is possible and no matter what your situation to not let fear to get the best you….Live fearlessly! Karen has a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Nursing and is a member of the Biltmore’s Who’s Who among Professionals. Outside of her performing arts projects Karen works as a consultant in the medical industry. She is the proud mother of two boys, Maxwell and Hunter and is committed to teaching her boys to appreciate and participate in the Arts!
